An RMIT short course offers you the opportunity to quickly enhance your professional skills, increase general knowledge in a chosen area or simply nurture a new talent or hobby. Short courses run throughout the year. On completion, participants are awarded an RMIT Statement of Participation.
An RMIT single course is a subject from an undergraduate or postgraduate degree program. A single course gives you an opportunity to experience the subject matter before committing to a degree. Single courses are offered during RMIT University's Semester 1, Semester 2, Spring and Summer semesters. Enrolments are accepted only during official enrolment periods. Participants are issued with an RMIT University Result Statement on successful completion.
RMIT short courses are open to everyone. Some of our more advanced short courses may require a certain level of knowledge check the individual short course flyer for further details to see if the course is appropriate for your needs. The minimum age requirement is 16 years of age however a Dean or Head of School may provide permission to allow a younger student to enrol in a course.
RMIT single courses are subjects open to anyone, however some single courses may have prerequisites while other single courses require no previous knowledge on the subject check individual single course pages for further details to see if the course is appropriate for your needs.
RMIT University offer Equitable Learning Services (ELS) that provide support and assistance for students with a disability, long-term illness and/or mental health condition and primary carers of individuals with a disability. This service is available to Single and Short Course students.

For single courses that do not require University approval, you will be able to complete your application online and submit payment by Visa or MasterCard. For single courses that require University approval, you will be asked to complete a self-assessment statement. You will not be required to pay until your application is approved.

After completing your enrolment for a short course, you will be issued with a tax invoice that doubles as your Booking Confirmation. This Booking Confirmation confirms the course, date and fee paid — you will need to check this to ensure all details, including your name, are correct. Approximately one week prior to the scheduled course commencement, you will receive further communication from us. This will usually be to confirm course details such as where the course is to be held, your lecturer, materials provided and items you need to bring along to class.

For single courses that do not require University approval, once your application, payment and any other proof is submitted, you will be issued with a tax invoice that doubles as your Booking Confirmation — you will need to check this to ensure all details are correct, including your name as it will appear as is on your Result Statement.
For single courses that require University approval, we will contact you to advise you of the decision. Where prerequisites apply, you may need to provide evidence of prerequisite satisfaction. A payment needs to be made once your application has been approved, and only then is your enrolment confirmed. You will be issued with a Tax Invoice which doubles as a Booking Confirmation — you will need to check this to ensure all details are correct, including your name as it will appear as is on your Result Statement.
Unless stated, RMIT short and single courses do not attract GST.
The short course flyer will indicate whether course materials (if any) are included in the course fee or are an additional cost. If any catering is included, this will also be indicated in the course flyer.
Single Course fees apply to both local and international students. International students must ensure that they hold a valid visa (student, visitor or temporary) for the duration of the single course.

Invoices will only be issued if a company purchase order or a letter of authority on company letterhead is provided at the time of enrolment.
We do not accept cash, personal cheques, Diners and American Express cards.
Please advise us if you move house, change your mobile number or email address. Any changes to personal details must be advised in writing to RMIT University. Failure to notify us will result in important information, such as Result Statements, not being received. You can email any changes to us at email@example.com.

Any personal or financial details which you provide are used to process enrolments and course enquiries. All information is protected by RMIT's secure server. RMIT is not involved in selling, trading or alternative use of a customer's personal information. RMIT will not sell, rent or share your information with any unauthorised third party. It is important that you provide accurate information as this may appear in Statements of Participation or Results Statements. We may contact you to inform you about course cancellations, change of venue and we might use your contact details to notify you about upcoming courses and special announcements and offers.

We recognise that your decision to attend a short course is an important one and that finding the time to participate isn't easy. It can be inconvenient if we have to reschedule or cancel a short course so we endeavour to notify you as soon as possible.
If your course is rescheduled and the new dates are suitable, you do not need to take any action. If you are unable to attend the rescheduled dates, contact us as soon as possible to finalise alternatives.
If your course is cancelled, you will need to contact us to finalise alternatives. You can transfer to the next available date for your course, transfer to a different short course or arrange a full refund.
Before enrolling into an RMIT short course, please ensure that you are aware of the Short Course Terms and Conditions. If you are unable to attend your short course, make sure that you advise us as early as possible to avoid transfer or cancellation fees.

In short courses where prerequisites do not apply, you may send a substitute in your place. Please advise us prior to course commencement.
A transfer or refund is not possible for non-attendance of a short course.
Most RMIT short courses are non-accredited, with a few exceptions. If you attend a non-accredited short course, you will be awarded an RMIT Statement of Participation on completion of the course.

If a single course requires University approval, this means that there is an extra step in the application process. A self assessment statement must be provided during the enrolment process, confirming that you satisfy the criteria or prerequisites necessary to undertake that particular single course. If you enrol online, you will be prompted for this statement.
For single courses that require University approval, we will contact you to advise of the decision. A payment needs to be made once your application has been approved, and only then is your enrolment confirmed. You will be issued with a tax invoice, which doubles as a Booking Confirmation—please check this to ensure all details are correct, including your name, as it will appear as is on your Results Statement.
If you need to cancel your single course enrolment once your application has been approved and fees paid, you must advise RMIT University in writing immediately.

To be eligible for a refund of your Single Course fee your intention to withdraw must be received in writing by RMIT University by the RMIT University Higher Education Census date. You will need to submit a Single Course Cancellation Form - please visit our publications page to download the form. An administration fee of $100 will apply.
There will be no deferments or transfers, including any requests to transfer to another single course or semester.
Students who successfully complete a single course may apply for credit towards an award program. Before applying for a single course, you should check how many credit points apply. On completion of a single course, RMIT University will issue a Result Statement confirming your achievement. Your Result Statement can be used to obtain exemptions, however this is not an automatic process and conditions may apply. Accreditation or exemptions towards an award program are not automatic and students are advised to check with the relevant RMIT University School or Home Institution. Single course students will not gain automatic entry into an award program or gain a degree through only completing single courses.
No. Enrolling into a single course does not make you eligible for an RMIT University student card. You are a single course student for the duration of your single course. As an RMIT single course student you are issued with a client number and RMIT University student number. To access RMIT services please use your RMIT University student number.
Additional Result Statements may be obtained by submitting a Request to Reissue Single Course Results to RMIT University - please visit our publications page to download the form. An administration fee of $20 for first Single Course Result Reissue and $10 for each Result Reissue thereafter will be charged for this service.
