Licensing Electrician Assessment (LEA) - Safe Work Practice Assessment (SWP)

Overview

Safe Working Practice (SWP) 

SWP is a 50 minute assessment.  It tests your ability to safely disconnect/reconnect a piece of electrical equipment.
This assessment is regarded as 'real life' practical assessment and as such all candidates must dress appropriately.
Candidates must achieve a minimum pass mark of 75%.
To be eligible to sit the LEA assessments, you must provide an “Eligibility to Sit LEA” letter signed by your RTO.

Course content

  • Safe disconnection and reconnection of permanently wired electrical appliances to AS/NZ3000:2007, including amendments 1 & 2 Wiring Rules and the AS/NZ:4836 Safe working on or near low voltage electrical.
  • Testing of appliances prior to reconnection and commissioning.

Ideal for

Candidates must have successfully completed or near completed their on/off the job studies relevant to the Certificate III in Electro technology Electrician program or equivalent trade certificate.

Important Information

What to wear

Students should wear clothing and footwear appropriate for a TAFE College (thongs, open sandals and singlet tops are NOT suitable). The assessor has the authority to deny any candidate entry to the examination if they are incorrectly attired.

Outcome

Candidates must achieve a minimum pass mark of 75%.  A "Letter of Results" will be forwrded to candidates, normally 10 days after assessment date.

Pre-requisites

Eligibility
To be eligible to sit the LEA assessments, you must provide an “Eligibility to Sit LEA” letter (see example below) signed by your RTO.
Your enrolment will not be processed if you do not have this letter.

Materials supplied

All relevant course materials are included.

Materials to bring

Candidates must provide their own material/codes, pens and rule books. We do not provide books nor do you have permission to borrow from another candidate.

Award

Candidates will receive their results via mail within 10 working days of completing the assessment.

Applying for your Electrician’s Licence
To apply for your Electrician’s Licence, you will need to provide the results from your LET, SWP and LEP assessments to ESV along with your statement of results from your RTO.
