Infection Control for Dental practices including Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

Overview

The morning session of this course covers major areas of concern relating to infection control in dentistry. This is an excellent opportunity to ensure that you comply with the Australian Standards and ADA guidelines.

In the afternoon you will be provided with the knowledge and skills necessary to maintain breathing and circulation in an adult, child or infant following cardiac arrest.  (It is a requirement of this course that practical demonstration of CPR must be performed on the floor).  

Course content

Participants will be guided through the following best practice aspects associated with infection control:

• What is infection control;
• Understanding the basic principles of infection control;
• Effective hygiene, implementation and compliance;
• Using disposable products;
• Risk minimisation techniques;
• Keeping up to date records.

Ideal for

This one day course is designed for all clinical practitioners and includes compulsory CPR training to manage the immediate care of medical emergencies.

Important Information

The infection control content will be presented by a well known and respected DHSV Infection Control employee.  The CPR knowledge and practical activities will be delivered by a qualified CPR teacher.

Outcome

On completion of the course participants will have a good understanding of effective and essential infection control skills for the dentist environment and skills and knowledge required for cardio-pulmonary resuscitation.

Unique Student Identifier (CPR)
All learners undertaking nationally recognised training are required to have a Unique Student Identifier (USI) issued by the Australian Government. If you do not have a USI you will need to go www.usi.gov.au and create one.

Award

Participants will be awarded an RMIT Certificate of Attendance for the morning session and on successful completion of the afternoon CPR session, will be issued with a nationally recognised State of Attainment for HLTAID001.
