Gippsland Swift App Development



RMIT University has developed a new App Development course for Gippslanders.

This Apple specific App Development course will teach you to design and build apps for Apple iOS devices. This interactive course uses the latest versions of Xcode and Swift 5 using curriculum developed by Apple.

It is delivered flexibly and consists of 5 face-to-face classes with the rest of the delivery online.

Participants must have access to an Apple mac computer for the duration of the course.

Course content

The course covers five units of study culminating in your own final application design that will allow you to build your own Swift app.

Ideal for

Anyone who has an app idea, a business problem to solve with an IOS app, or potential app developers looking to get into a development iOS career.
No prior coding experience is required.

Normal price for the course $1,800.00.
Gippsland price: $200.00
(Maximum of 24 participants).

This course is a subsidised program. Participants who live or work in Gippsland will be entitled to the reduced cost of $200.00 only.

At the end of the course, participants should be able to build their own Swift app.

All relevant course materials are included.

Materials to bring

Students will need access to a Mac computer with up to date OS X (Operating System) updates installed and X-Code installed. The teacher can assist with X-Code installation on Day one so please bring your laptop. iPads are useful in terms of testing developed apps, however all development work must be done on a Mac computer.


Upon successful completion of the course you will be eligible for one unit of credit into the AD006 Associate Degree in Information Technology.

Additional notes

How will the course be delivered?
You can study at your own pace and time, but to get you started your first face-to-face session is scheduled, 9 – 4.30 pm, Saturday 23rd February 2019 at Federation Training, Warragul campus.

To keep you on track, your other face-to-face sessions will be conducted Saturdays, 30th March; 4th May; 1st June & 13th July 2019.
