Portfolio Preparation in Visual Merchandising

Overview

Visual Merchandising is about selling or promoting by means of presentation, which involves store display and design, exhibition design, event design, photographic styling and theming. In this course students work through their own practical visual merchandising project which will cover the whole process from design to final installation. Students work through a range of practical exercises, which are followed by class discussion to highlight methods and solutions. Students complete their designs and execute a display and merchandise installation.

Ideal for

VCE students, or adults interested in further study or employment in the Visual Merchandising industry, or any person with an interest in the process of producing a display for a commercial environment.

More information

Outcome

Students will have a folio of sketches, drawings and photographs of finished merchandise display. Students will gain skills and knowledge in sketching techniques, studio workshop process and arranging merchandise.

Award

Participants will be awarded an RMIT Statement of Participation.

Additional notes

Participation has no influence on the selection of students into RMIT award programs. Short Course activities may include opportunity to prepare for a folio, experience of the studio environment, provide an industry and study overview, and assistance with study options.
