Intro to Fine Art Printmaking: Experiment with techniques to produce prints CUAPRI401

Overview

Develop familiarity with foundational techniques and concepts in the medium of printmaking through two in-depth projects. You will become proficient in relief printing with linoleum, and then develop an understanding and competency in intaglio printing through the creation of a drypoint etching.

Course content

In this course you will develop a working understanding and proficiency in two key types of fine art print production: you will become familiar with relief printing through using linoleum as a matrix, and intaglio printing through the creation of a drypoint etching. You will learn to develop concepts and reference contemporary fine art practice through these materials and processes. Relevant occupational health and safety procedures will be taught and observed at all times in the studio.

School leavers, mature aged participants, current RMIT students.

Important Information

Participants must wear sturdy, enclosed footwear to all of these studio sessions. Please be advised that those who attend with inappropriate footwear, e.g. sandals, will be turned away from the session.

Outcome

Students will receive a transcript with a grade in the nationally recognised unit of competency.

Pen/pencil and notebook, plus items on list (details to be confirmed).

Award

Participants will be awarded an RMIT Statement of Participation and receive a transcript.
