An insider's guide to the role of the stylist today. Learn about being an interpreter of fashion, from a professional industry-renowned stylist.
This course introduces the different areas a stylist can be involved in, including photo shoots for fashion & homewares, co-ordinating fashion shows, wardrobe styling for television or film and personal wardrobe styling.
Practical hands-on activities eg. working with mood boards and organising a photo shoot, will complement the presentations by and discussions with your tutor, Franco Schifilliti, who has a wealth of expertise in the fashion industry.
This course is suited to those students who are interested in becoming a stylist and would like to know more of what it entails. It would also interest fashionista's that love fashion and would like to explore an aspect of the industry under the guidance of an experienced professional.
By the end of the course students will have a realistic awareness of the role of the stylist in its many different forms. Students will have been exposed to what it's like to work as a stylist and will themselves have participated in some styling projects including a photoshoot.
Students will be required to supply some basic materials for creating mood boards etc. More information will be forwarded after enrolment.
Participants will be emailed an RMIT Statement of Participation after completion of the course.
Franco Schifilliti has worked as a freelance fashion stylist for 12 years based in Melbourne and has styled shows around Australia and New Zealand. He was previously the fashion and lifestyle stylist for Myer advertising after moving from Adelaide to Melbourne. Franco has styled many of the famous & fabulous people who have visited Melbourne in the last decade. This list includes:
• International super model Carmen Kass for her appearances in the Myer Melbourne store fashion shows
• Hollywood actress Bo Derek( best known for her film ‘10’) as special guest at the Grand Prix ball
• Australian sporting icon Cathy Freeman for her first ever runway appearance
Franco’s creative talents are well displayed in the various fashion shows he has styled; from Collins Place shopping centre to Myer Melbourne fashion launches in addition to high tea shows at Melbourne Spring Fashion Week to designer shows at the Melbourne Fashion Festival. Franco’s international clients have included Bulgari jewellery, Kenzo Homme, Schiaparelli Hosiery & Replay Footwear.
Franco is currently one of the stylists at Chadstone Shopping Centre Melbourne available for personal wardrobe consultation.
