Have you ever wanted to learn how to sell your fashion, design or craft wares in the retail marketplace? This course will prepare you for selling your handmade wares online, in brick and mortar stores, and at markets. You’ll learn how to create a strong brand identity, and how to price and market your work to its best advantage. You’ll develop essential skills needed to successfully retail your work in a variety of ways and come away with a realistic plan on how to take your creative talents to the next level.
Course includes interactive activities that will directly contribute to each student’s retail plan. Students will be able to use the work created in each activity in the real world so that they come away from the course with specific and relevant information for retailing their wares.
This course is ideally suited to designers and makers with little to no retail experience, who would like to begin selling their work at markets, in brick and mortar stores and/or online.
Students will have developed a cohesive brand identity, a thorough understanding of the retail options open to them and where their products my fit best in the retail marketplace. Students will gain the relevant skills needed to prepare their products for sale in the marketplace of their choice.
Each student will have the opportunity for one-on-one mentoring from your tutor, conducted in a group environment so that all students can benefit from each other’s unique experience.
An interest in retailing their creations / designs / products. It is advantageous if the student has already produced work to sell, or has some idea of what they are planning on making to sell.
All relevant course notes are included.
Please bring pen/pencil and notebook for note taking. Students are invited to bring their laptop / tablet and examples of their work that they are intending to sell.
Participants will be emailed an RMIT Statement of Participation after completion of the course.
