Certificate IV in Training and Assessment - One Day a Week (12 Weeks)


You will learn essential skills in the design of learning programs and the delivery and assessment of training.  The Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is the required qualification for those delivering and assessing accredited training in the national VET system.

Course content

  • The course covers 10 units organised into 3 fields: 1. Learning Design, 2. Delivery and Facilitation, 3. Assessment.
  • Design and develop learning programs.
  • Use training packages and accredited courses to meet client needs.
  • Address Adult Language, Literacy & Numeracy Skills
  • Plan, organise and deliver group-based learning
  • Plan, organise and facilitate learning in the workplace
  • Make a presentation
  • Contribute to assessment
  • Plan assessment activities and processes Assess competence
  • Participate in assessment validation

Job roles associated with this qualification relate to the delivery of training and assessment of competence within the VET sector. Possible job titles and roles relevant to this qualification include:

  • enterprise trainer
  • enterprise assessor
  • TAFE trainer and assessor
  • registered training organisation (RTO) trainer/assessor
  • training adviser or training needs analyst
  • vocational education teachers
  • teachers who wish to teach at TAFE

Important Information

A course induction will be conducted from 8:30 am on course commencement date. You will receive a pre training review form prior to commencement. Please complete and email prior to commencement

Enrolments close four working days prior to course commencement, OR when the course reaches maximum capacity.

There is a requirement to deliver two sessions of training to a group outside of class hours. If you do not have access to groups in your workplace, it is strongly recommended that you contact the course coordinator prior to enrolling to discuss how you may achieve this.

By satisfactorily completing the certificate, you will be qualified to deliver and assess nationally accredited programs in a registered training organisation such as a TAFE institute, private provider or in a workplace context.


This program requires a high level of commitment and, as such, is better suited to people with some training experience. Basic computer skills including word processing and internet use essential.

Participant manual.  Access to the MyRMIT BlackBoard program site.

Materials to bring

USB, Pen/pencil and notebook.


You will be awarded the Cert IV TAA (TAE40110) on successfully meeting assessment requirements

Additional notes


Only Australian Citizens, New Zealand Citizens and clients with Permanent Residency or Humanitarian Visas are eligible to enrol. Temporary/Spousal Visas are not accepted.


Candidates with relevant experience may be eligible to apply for Recognition of Prior Learning, you will receive a Powerpoint explaining the RPL Process.
